A great way to add elegance to a room and give walls dimension that adds character is wainscoting. Last week, we installed and painted wainscoting in a home in North Barrington. First, we had to remove the old wainscoting, which was very basic and poorly done. We used a higher quality molding and added a double chair rail, which lent itself to the design and overall function of the room, protecting against scratches and scuffs.
Once the molding was installed, we applied caulk and hole-filler flawlessly and painted a Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo Latex finish. Wainscoting is a classic way to add that wow factor, especially in more traditional areas of the home such as the dining room.
